Limitations
Scan issues
- Scan Quality: If the scan quality itself is bad/distorted too much across the arch, it may produce wrong results
- Scan Quality soft tissue: Soft tissue behind the last molar or the papilla incisiva may produce wrong results. This can be solved by using the marking tools (use the blue marker to give the area its natural resilience)
- Additional Scans/Attachments: Scanbodys and separate dies may produce wrong results. This can be solved by using the marking tools (use the blue marker to ignore the scanbody)
Other issues
- Not enough teeth: If there is not enough dentition to have a stable occlusion, it will be hard to find it.
- Fully edentulous:Â in a fully edentulous case Bite-Finder will not work for now. There are some workflow to compensate for that. 1: Use a preop scan and then apply the results on the prep scan. 2: Scan an old denture and apply the results on the new design.
- Severe malocclusion/Angle Class III: Severe malocclusion or class III may produce wrong results. Using the local static occlusion and using the marking tool helps.Â
- Rehabilitation: Bite-Finder is focused on restoration and not rehabilitation, complex treatments require different workflows i.e. using preop scans, old dentures, VDO, …Â
